Check-ups for children

We encourage patients of all ages to have regular dental check-ups. Check-ups help to keep the teeth and gums healthy and disease-free. Children’s check-ups are important because they allow us to keep an eye on the development of milk and adult teeth and spot any signs of decay as early as possible.

During a check-up we also get the chance to talk to children and parents about oral hygiene, diet and any other relevant issues linked to oral health. Our dedicated children’s dentist is happy to answer children’s questions.

What happens when your child has a check-up?

When your little ones have a dental check-up, the dentist will have a good look around their mouth, examining the tongue, teeth and gums thoroughly and checking for signs of cavities, abnormal development and orthodontic issues. If everything is in order, we’ll arrange another check-up within the next six months. If there are any issues, such as a cavity, we will make a sooner appointment to provide your child with the appropriate treatment.

In addition to regular check-ups, we also recommend preventative treatments for children, such as fluoride varnish and fissure sealant treatment. Both treatments help to strengthen and protect the teeth and reduce the risk of decay.
