Introducing VELscope
Studies show the prevalence of oral cancer has increased by 25% in the last 10 years with lifestyle choices such as smoking and drinking alcohol being the most common contributing factors.
Oral cancer is one of the most commonly detected cancers. Studies show that with early detection, 90% of people who receive treatment are cured, whereas a delay in seeking treatment drastically reduces success rates. Early discovery means we’re able to act quickly, offering a range of treatment options including less invasive action.
It is essential to alert us if you are experiencing any of the following:
- Unexplained bleeding in your mouth
- Difficulty swallowing or moving your tongue
- Development of white or red patches in your mouth, lips or gums
- Ear pain
- Change in the way your teeth or jaws fit together
At Harley Street Dental Studio, your dentist will use the latest VELscope Oral Assessment System to scan your mouth for any abnormalities. Using a fluorescent light, the VELscope will highlight any abnormalities to your dentist who will be able to advise you on the necessary treatment.
Once the oral cancer is under control, you may be recommended to make dietary changes so as to minimise the risk of relapse.
