Articles Introducing Tooth Wear Rehab To Patients In Central London

How can we help?

General wear and tear affects everyone, but there are certain factors, which can accelerate or make tooth wear more severe. If you have worn teeth, we offer a tooth wear rehab service to patch up your pearly whites, make your teeth stronger and enhance the look of your smile. We use the latest restorative techniques to repair damage and we are also on hand to offer preventative advice.

What causes tooth wear?

There are various factors, which can cause the teeth to become worn and damaged, from injuries and acid erosion, to bruxism (tooth grinding) and abrasion, which is usually caused by brushing too firmly.

Acid erosion is usually linked to diet and occurs when acids present in foods and drinks and those released by bacteria gradually attack and weaken the outer enamel layer. As the enamel becomes worn, there is a higher risk of wear and tear and holes (cavities) forming. Bruxism is a sub-conscious action, which occurs during the night and is commonly linked to stress and anxiety; it can result in tooth damage, as well as aches and pains in the head, jaw, shoulders and neck.

What can we do for tooth wear?

We firmly believe in a preventative approach, but if you already have signs of wear, we can address these using a variety of treatments and techniques, including crowns, cosmetic bonding and veneers.

Crowns are restorations, which sit on top of the tooth; they are generally recommended when a tooth is damaged as a result of an injury or extensive decay. We often recommend porcelain crowns because they produce natural looking aesthetics.

Cosmetic bonding, also known as aesthetic or composite bonding, is a technique, which takes just an hour to repair chipped and worn teeth. This procedure involves using dental composite to improve the shape and look of individual teeth. The overall impact of this treatment is incredible and nervous patients will be pleased to hear that there’s absolutely no pain involved.

Veneers: veneers are wafer-thin pieces of porcelain, which are shaped to fit on top of the natural teeth; they are an excellent aesthetic solution for worn surfaces and edges, jagged teeth and chips.
