At some point in our lives (hopefully later on in our lives) many of us may have to look at dental dentures as a replacement for missing natural teeth.

Dentures are usually either removable or fixed. Fixed dentures are generally the easier to use, as they can pretty much be treated as usual teeth once they have been implanted, but they are generally the more expensive of the options too, because of the multiple dental visits and range of equipment that needs to be used if a large number of teeth are to be replaced.

What are All on 4 Implants?

All on 4 implants are a revolutionary new form of fixed implant dentures that are both affordable and easier to implant than traditional implants, meaning less dentist visits for the patient. Implants are used by drilling and securing a foundation in the jaw bone under the area the new tooth will be fixed. Most traditional implants are done this way, angled to the same degree. All on 4 is angled slightly differently, meaning more teeth can be supported by the same section of implant and jaw bone.

Because the number of implants used is so reduced, the amount of time you need to spend in the dentist’s chair is also reduced and may take only one dental visit of around two and a half hours. The time it takes to install the implants will vary, depending on both the amount of jaw bone and the quality of the bone.  The decrease in both the procedure time and the number of implants needed doesn’t only reduce cost for the patient, but will also significantly reduce the recovery time because your bone has less foreign materials to familiarise itself with.

Are there any other benefits?

Some people may have been turned down for dental implants because they lack the right amount of usable bone around the mouth. All on 4 implants could be the solution. Because All on 4 uses less bone to install the implants, patients who have been told they can’t have fixed dentures in the past may just be accepted for All on 4 dental implants.
