Gaps in between teeth can really wear down self-esteem and cause feelings of self-consciousness. This is especially true if the gap sits between the two front teeth, or between any of the teeth that are on show when you smile.

There are a number of treatments for this problem at your London dentist, from braces to bonding and even tooth gap bands.

Braces

Braces are by far the most common solution and come in a variety of forms. The traditional metal brace can be used, but are quickly becoming outdated and many dentists now recommend aligners such as Invisalign and the Inman Aligner. Aligners act much faster, are generally cheaper and are almost invisible when worn.

Cosmetic Bonding

For those who would like another option to braces, there is cosmetic bonding. Cosmetic bonding is a treatment which uses a putty like material to act as a filler for reshaping teeth, filling cavities and of course, filling gaps between teeth. This treatment can be completed within a few sessions and provides faster aesthetic results than braces.

Teeth Gap Bands

A third and relatively new treatment is the use of teeth gap bands from companies such as Orthofill. These bands act in a similar way to braces and apply pressure to the teeth in need of treatment, to move them into the desired position. The band is placed over the two teeth surrounding the gap and left over time (usually between 3 to 6 weeks) the band steadily applies pressure to the teeth pushing them inwards, closing the gap. The bands are removable and can be taken off whenever you wish.
