Confused about Cosmetic Dentistry options?

Gum Re-Sculpting

If your gums rest too low or too high on your teeth and you are unhappy with your smile, you may benefit from gum re-sculpting or contouring. A "gummy smile" can make your teeth look small whereas gums that are too high may result in your teeth appearing to be quite long. High gum levels may expose your tooth root and can lead to serious dental problems including decay and tooth loss. In some situations, it may also be a sign of periodontal disease and will require immediate attention.

Gum contouring is a cosmetic procedure that is often used in combination with other cosmetic dental treatments including crowns, or veneers.

Our specialist periodontist, Dr Federico Tinti, will work with your chosen cosmetic dentist to adjust your gumline so that it is even and you are left with a smile you can be proud of!

Gingival Veneers

Receding gums are one of the main side effects of gum disease. Once successful periodontal treatment has been carried out and the inflammation of the gums is reduced, the appearance of recession may be even more noticeable. This can make the teeth look long which has the effect of aging your smile, it is where we get the expression ‘long in the tooth’. You may also find that gaps become visible between the teeth as the roots are exposed.

Gingival Veneers are a simple and cost-effective solution to replace the lost gum tissue and restore a more youthful looking smile.

In just two appointments, a tailor made veneer can be produced for you. The gingival veneer is made from acrylic and is removable to allow you continue to brush, floss and use interdental brushes to maintain your oral health and keep further gum disease at bay.
