What actually happens during the procedure?

During the procedure your dentist will sculpt the dental material to build up worn surfaces, improve the shape of the teeth, close gaps between the teeth or repair chipped teeth. When we are happy with the results, we use an intensive light source to set the material hard. Once the material is hard, it is very strong and it can last for many years; however, it is not quite as strong as natural tooth tissue and it can chip and break in the same way as your natural teeth.

You may feel minor discomfort when your dentist is etching the tooth but there should be no pain and most patients do not need anaesthetic. In most cases, treatment is complete within an hour and you can show off your new smile.
