Articles What is Involved in a General Dental Check-Up
At Harley Street Dental Studio, we focus on preventing oral disease and enabling our clients to enjoy beautiful, healthy smiles. We strongly recommend regular routine check-ups for adults and children. Dental checks are an effective means of reducing the risk of decay and gum disease.
What happens during a dental check-up?
When you come in for a dental check-up, your dentist will carry out some routine checks to make sure your teeth and gums are in good condition. They will examine your mouth thoroughly under a light, using specially designed dental instruments. During your check up, our dentists will look for cavities and signs of decay, oral infections and gum disease, recording any changes to your dental health in your notes. If you do need further treatment, this will be explained to you and we’ll organise another appointment at a time convenient for you. Your dentist will ask you if you’ve had any problems since your last visit and answer all your questions.
How often should I have a check-up?
We usually recommend appointments every 6 to 9 months. If you have an appointment booked but start to experience dental pain or notice signs of gum disease (such as bleeding gums), don’t wait until your next check-up. Call straight away and we’ll arrange an appointment for you as soon as possible. The earlier we can treat you, the better.
If you have any questions about check-ups, would like to arrange an appointment or want to find out more about general dentistry at Harley Street Dental Studio, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
