If you suffer from dental anxiety, you’re not alone. In fact, dental phobia is one of the most common phobias out there. At Harley Street Dental Studio, we understand that many of our patients are anxious about undergoing dental treatment and we do everything possible to help them to relax and stay calm. Here are just 3 of the ways we take care of nervous patients:
- Meeting the team and having a look around: many patients are apprehensive about having treatment because they worry about meeting a dentist for the first time, they’re uncomfortable in unfamiliar scenarios and they have questions about the procedure. We are more than happy to meet patients before they have a routine appointment or they start a course of treatment. We can show you around, let you meet the team and get to know us and we can provide answers to all of the questions or queries that may be making you feel anxious. It’s important to us that our patients feel able to talk to us and that they have a clear understanding of what treatment involves and what they can expect on the day.
- Sedation: sedation is a technique we sometimes recommend for nervous patients. When you’re sedated, you won’t lose consciousness, but you will feel completely relaxed and you won’t experience any pain. Many patients feel comforted by the thought of having treatment under sedation and it can help to ease anxiety in the run-up to a procedure. When treatment is complete, the effects of the sedative will start to wear off quickly, but it can take up to 24 hours to get back to normal, so we encourage you to ask somebody to accompany you home and urge you to take it easy for a day or two.
- Drill-free dentistry: we often come across patients who are fearful of having treatment because they have a phobia of the dental drill. The good news is that we offer drill-free dentistry. With the Aquacut Quattro, we can provide no drill dentistry, enabling you to get the treatment you need without any worries at all.
If you’re a nervous patient and you’re looking for an experienced, compassionate dental team, we can assure you that you’ll be in safe hands at Harley Street Dental Studio. Call us now to find out more about how we could help you overcome your fears!
