Articles Three Tooth-Kind Winter Warm-ups

How can we help?

It’s winter, and it’s getting nippy out there. If you’re keen to indulge in some hot drinks to warm the cockles without putting your dental health in jeopardy, here are some tooth-kind options:

  • Hot milk: hot milk is soothing and it’s also a great source of calcium. Calcium is essential for healthy teeth and bones. Milk is also a good source of protein and it’s a low sugar alternative to warming cocktails, hot cordial and rich hot chocolate.
  • Green tea: green tea is a brilliant option for those hoping to boost their health at the same time as warding off the cold. Green tea is packed with antioxidants and studies show that drinking green tea on a regular basis can help to lower your risk of developing gum disease. If you’re not a fan of green tea, try flavoured versions, which you may find more palatable.
  • A good old fashioned cuppa: in the UK, tea makes the world go round, and at this time of year, there are few things that make us feel better than a good old fashioned cuppa. According to BBC News, scientists have discovered that drinking tea can help to destroy harmful bacteria in the mouth, reducing your risk of oral disease.
