Often people who are anxious or nervous about having treatment at the dentist think the only options available to them are anesthetic using a needle in the mouth and gum areas. This can cause dental phobic people to not visit their dentist or seek any treatment, leaving their oral health at great risk. Even if you look after your teeth and clean and floss daily, you may still need to have a professional clean or even a filling. Missing vital check-ups can make small problems into larger, more serious ones, sometimes leading to teeth needing to be extracted altogether. At Harley Street Dental Studio we offer nervous patients dental sedation, so that they can have treatment whilst fully relaxed.

We offer two kinds of sedation

There are two kinds of sedation, which are oral sedation and Intravenous sedation. We can discuss the best method of sedation for you, but we recommend IV sedation for longer treatments. We offer patients IV sedation administered by our fully trained expert anaesthetist. If you chose to have oral sedation this can be administered by one of our expert doctors or nurses, as this is the most common type of sedation.

If you decide that you would like to have oral sedation we can fully explain how it works, any side effects there might be, and also discuss the fact that you will need someone to take you home after treatment, as you cannot drive straight away after oral sedation, Sedation allows you to have a basic check-up to a more serious treatment such as an extraction or root canal treatment. Sedation leaves you feeling relaxed but still conscious, it stops anxiety and allows one of our dentists to examine and treat your teeth properly.
