Dr Nikos Mardas is considered as one of the leading Periodontists in the UK with a long-standing clinical, teaching and research presented at national and international level.

After qualifying in Dentistry from Athens University in 1992, he completed his full-time 3-year specialist training and the MS degree in Periodontology in 1997 and his PhD degree in 2005 at the Royal Dental College, University of Aarhus, Denmark.

Between 2005-2015, he was a Senior Lecturer and the M. Clin. Dent program co-ordinator in Periodontology Unit, at UCL, Eastman Dental Institute. In 2015, he moved to QMUL, Barts & The London School of Dentistry to become a Consultant in Periodontology & the Periodontology Lead for the Undergraduate Curriculum.

He is a London Deanery accredited Educational Supervisor for Periodontology Specialty Trainees. At the same time, is working as Associate Specialist Periodontist & Implant surgeon in private practice.

Nikos has published more than 60 papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and contributed to many chapters in textbooks. He is an editorial board member in Clinical Oral Implant Research and a regular reviewer for all the leading journals in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry while he has participated as an invited expert in consensus meetings of major periodontal and international implant organisations.

He has extensively lectured nationally and internationally and in 2011 was awarded the Basic Research Prize, of the European Association for Osseointegration. He has served as Education Delegate for the UK & Ireland ITI section. Currently, He is Faculty member for British Society of Periodontology, Academic Advisor for British Society of Dental Implantology & the Association of Dental Implantology UK and member of the Osteology International Experts Group.
