Have you been suffering with a sore jaw? Is jaw pain getting you down or have you noticed stiffness or discomfort when you try and eat or yawn? If you’ve got jaw problems, we may be able to help. Often, pain in the jaw is linked to dental issues, which we can solve.
There are many different causes of jaw pain. Injuries and accidents can cause discomfort, but sometimes, dental issues are to blame. This is where our incredible team of dentists comes in handy. One of the most common causes of jaw pain is bruxism, which is the medical name for grinding the teeth. When you grind your teeth together, this can increase pressure and tension in the muscles surrounding the jaw, and this is why you may experience aches when you wake up in the morning. Another potential dental cause is loose fillings and crowns. In some cases, orthodontic issues that affect the bite can also contribute to jaw issues.
If you’re experiencing jaw pain and there is a dental cause, we’ll do everything possible to get you smiling again as quickly as possible. The treatments we use will depend on the cause. We can discuss orthodontic treatments with you if your bite may be causing troubles, and we can also replace loose restorations. If bruxism is a problem, we may recommend wearing a customised bite guard while you sleep. A bite guard is designed to prevent physical contact between the upper and lower arches of teeth during the night. The guard is bespoke to ensure a comfortable fit.
If you’re having problems with your jaw, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’ll do our best to make you feel comfortable again.
