Articles Smile with Porcelain Veneers!

How can we help?

Having straight teeth isn’t just aesthetically pleasing, it’s also pleasingly healthy. Crooked teeth can be more difficult to keep clean, as well as being a key factor for tooth decay and other dental problems. But with straight teeth it is more difficult for food particles to get caught – meaning that gum and teeth problems are easily prevented.  Other advantages to a straight smile include better speech – enabling many to speak clearer as opposed to those with crooked teeth.

One of the most popular and effective ways to achieving straight teeth comes in the form of porcelain veneers.  Designed to suit the shape of your teeth as well as being tailored to your preferred shade of whiteness, the ease of this treatment couldn’t be simpler.  The veneers are thinly moulded sheets of porcelain applied along the front of the teeth, covering up any gaps or crookedness to give the impression of perfectly straight teeth.  The procedure usually involves at least three sessions, including preparation for the moulding, but some dentists may carry out a “no-preparation” technique where the teeth won’t be filed prior to moulding.  When having the consultation your dentist will talk to you throughout the whole process, giving you the chance to explore alternative options or additional treatment as well as advice you on aftercare.

Porcelain veneers can last for several years, and have been known to last even twenty years and more.  As long as proper care is maintained your veneers will maintain a healthy and durable existence, and always remember to visit your dentist every six months so they can check for any problems as well as monitor how well the veneers are keeping.
