Do you dream of having a flawless smile? Are you looking for an affordable cosmetic solution that will give you a smile you’re desperate to show off? Many people have been inspired to have dental treatments like veneers by their favourite celebrities. While veneers are an excellent choice for some, they’re not always the most affordable option. The good news is that we have other techniques we can use to give you an A-list smile. Here’s everything you need to know about cosmetic bonding.
Cosmetic bonding is a procedure, which is used to enhance the aesthetic of the smile by adjusting the appearance of individual teeth. If you have minor imperfections, such as chips or worn edges, gaps between your teeth or discolouration, we can use aesthetic bonding techniques to make your smile look more attractive and give you more confidence.
The bonding procedure is nothing to worry about. In fact, it’s completely painless, so you won’t need any anaesthetic or have to worry about heading home with a numb mouth. Bonding involves using a dental material called dental composite to patch up the teeth, close gaps, cover unsightly stains and fill in chips. Your dentist will select the shade of composite that it closest to the natural tooth colour to ensure a seamless finish. They will then use their skill and creativity to alter the appearance of the teeth in question. When the composite, which is soft and malleable at room temperature, is in place, your dentist will then set it using a curing light. When the composite is firm, your dentist will carry out any final alterations, and then show you the results of their hard work in the mirror.
Although the changes that we make to the individual teeth are often very minor, the effect on the overall aesthetic of the smile is incredible, and hopefully, after treatment, you’ll feel a lot more confident about flashing your pearly whites.
