Articles Invisalign as an Alternative to Conventional Braces

How can we help?

Many adults remember braces from their childhood, but not often fondly. Going to school with visible metal braces on the teeth was a daunting prospect for anyone with orthodontic problems. Although traditional braces are still used today, orthodontic technology has come on leaps and bounds and there is a great number of discreet and effective solutions available. One of the most notable modern devices is Invisalign.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a revolutionary orthodontic system that realigns your teeth into a straighter position whilst remaining unseen in the mouth. The aligners are removable, so you can take them out to eat and brush your teeth.

How does it work?

You’ll wear a new set of aligners every two weeks. Each aligner is very slightly adjusted to match the changes made by the previous aligner. The constant change means the teeth don’t have time to settle until your smile is totally straight and you’re happy with the results. We use Invisalign to treat a number of dental problems, such as:

  • Overcrowding
  • Crossbite
  • Overbite
  • Underbite

Should I get Invisalign or conventional braces?

Like Invisalign, conventional braces require regular dental visits for adjustments and progress checking. It’s recommended that you seek dental advice before deciding what kind of brace to go with. If you’re self-conscious about your smile, Invisalign is probably the better choice, although most conventional braces are far more discreet than braces of the past.
