Articles Innovative Treatment For Missing Teeth For Patients In London

How can we help?

Missing teeth can be problematic for a number of reasons, but thankfully we can offer an amazing long-term replacement for lost teeth.

Dental implants are regarded as the best long-term treatment for missing teeth; the implant is designed to replace the root part of the missing tooth.

About dental implants

Dental implants are titanium rods, which are shaped like screws; they are inserted into sockets in the jaw bone and then left to integrate in a process known as osseointegration. Once the implants have integrated into the bone tissue, an abutment is attached and this can in turn be attached to a single crown, a dental bridge or a denture.

Dental implants are an increasingly popular option for people who have missing teeth and this is because they last a very long time, they produce amazing looking, natural smiles and they restore full function to the mouth. Dental implants look like natural teeth and they provide all the functions of natural teeth; they are also fully integrated into the bone, so there is no risk of the tooth or denture coming loose. Dental implants also help to reduce bone loss, which tends to be more common in older people.

The treatment process

We offer traditional and same-day implants. Traditional implants are placed in pre-drilled sockets and then left to heal for a period of between 3 and 9 months; an incision is made in the gum tissue to access the bone and your dentist will drill a small hole into the bone. The implant is then placed and the incision is closed. Once the implant has integrated into the bone, an abutment is attached and then the crown, dental bridge or denture is fitted.

At Harley Street Dental Studio in London we also offer the amazing All-on-4 dental implant system; this system allows patients to enjoy a brand new smile on the same day as the implants are fitted. All-on-4 uses just four dental implants to support a full arch of new teeth by making the most of the strongest bone tissue at the front of the jaw. The implants are placed at specific angles, 90 degrees at the front and 45 degrees at the back, to provide optimum support and the new teeth are fitted immediately after the implants.
