Articles How Invisalign Straightens Teeth Subtly

How can we help?

At Harley Street Dental Studio, we know that many of our clients aren’t comfortable with the idea of wearing visible braces. In the past, there was only ever an option to choose fixed braces that were secured to the front of the teeth, but today, it is possible to use much more discreet methods of straightening the teeth. We offer lingual braces, which are applied to the back of the teeth, as well as virtually invisible aligners like Invisalign. If subtlety is key, Invisalign could be the perfect treatment for you.

Introducing Invisalign

If you thought you had to wear fixed braces to achieve a wonderful smile, think again! Invisalign has torn up the rulebook and produced an alternative, which has already benefited millions of patients all over the world. Invisalign is an aligner treatment, which uses removable braces that look similar to mouth guards to move the teeth. These aligners are light and streamlined, and they are made using high-grade, transparent plastic. Invisalign aligners slide over the teeth, and once they are in place, it’s virtually impossible to detect them when you smile.

The Invisalign treatment process

The Invisalign treatment process is very simple, and it follows this pattern:

  • You attend your consultation, your dentist takes photographs, and your treatment is planned in advance. Invisalign software plots the movement of the teeth, and your bespoke treatment plan is used to fabricate your custom-made aligners.
  • You receive your personalised aligners, your dentist provides you with information about how to place and remove them, how to clean them, and how long to wear your aligners for each day.
  • You start your treatment with the first aligner. We recommend wearing the aligners for at least 22 hours per day and removing them to brush the teeth and eat.
  • You swap your aligners every 2 weeks, following the set sequence and check in with your dentist throughout the process.
  • When you’ve worn your final aligner for 2 weeks and your dentist is happy with the finished article, your treatment will be complete and you’ll have a stunning new smile.
