Articles Don’t Brace for Confusion: Comprehensive Brace Options Compared

How can we help?

We are proud to offer a comprehensive range of orthodontic options, and we are optimistic that we can find the perfect solution for every patient. While it’s wonderful to have a lot of choices, it can also make life a little confusing when it comes to choosing which system to go for. If you’re thinking about getting braces, we can help you make a decision based on your needs and of course, your preferences too. Here is a quick guide to help you understand more about our amazing orthodontic options.

Removable braces

Removable braces are appliances, which are designed to be removed when you eat and clean your teeth. Many braces, such as Invisalign and Simpli5, are made from clear plastic, but this is not always the case. The Inman Aligner, for example, is not an invisible brace, but it works incredibly quickly and it is much more discreet than traditional fixed metal braces. Generally speaking, removable braces are recommended for patients who have minor or moderate needs, as they don’t provide the level of support that fixed braces do. They are a convenient option, as you don’t have to adapt the way you eat or clean your teeth, and many patients prefer the freedom a removable brace gives them.

Fixed braces

Fixed braces are attached to the teeth. Once they are in place, they won’t be removed until treatment is complete and your smile looks incredible. In days gone by, fixed braces were made from bulky metal parts, but today, they are much more discreet. Treatments like Six Month Smiles and Damon Smiles offer the security of a fixed brace with discreet aesthetics. They are made from transparent and tooth-coloured components, so they are barely visible when you smile. Fixed braces can be used for minor, moderate or complex needs. Some treatments, like Six Month Smiles, are best for minor and moderate issues that affect the front teeth while others, like Damon Braces are best for those who need more movement. If you want rapid results and virtually invisible aesthetics, CFast may be an option worth considering.

Lingual braces

Lingual braces work in a very similar way to conventional modern fixed braces, however, they are secured to the back of the teeth, making them invisible when you smile. We offer Incognito for patients with a diverse range of orthodontic needs, and STb Social 6 braces for those who require minor correction.
