A working relationship

As dental professionals, the team recognise that dentists want to keep in touch with their patients during the referral and treatment process and they will endeavour to contact the dentist and keep them in the loop throughout the time they spend at the Harley Street practice. Dr Mark Hughes and his team are also keen to liaise with dentists and actively involve them in the decision making and discussion processes involved in the treatment plan.

How it works

The team has worked hard to ensure the transition between dentists and specialists is as seamless and stress-free as possible. The first stage of the process involves the initial referral form being completed, the patient details being verified and an appointment being made with the patient. At this time, Harley Street Dental will contact the General Dental Practitioner to confirm the appointment. The patient will then attend a consultation and the treatment plan will be discussed with the patient and sent to both the patient and the GDP. The patient will then undergo treatment and the treatment report will be sent back to the dentist; the patient will then be referred back to their GDP.

When receiving a referral, the Harley Street Dental team promises to offer the patient optimum standards of care and customer service, involve the dentist in the treatment plan and refer the patient back to their GDP after treatment. The team is also keen to offer support and mentoring to General Dental Practitioners and will help dentists to earn credits for continuing education.

Throughout the year, the Harley Street Dental Studio runs events and team building exercises with referring dentists. This helps to build strong relationships and enables everyone to get together, learn new things and have some fun at the same time.
