The advantage of this product is that there really are no disadvantages to it.  Whilst people seeking to acquire straight teeth do so for cosmetic purposes, there’s another reason why having straight teeth is beneficial – they are simpler to keep clean than crooked teeth, as they can be a primary element of decay and other dental complications.

Due to the fixed nature of metal braces, it’s difficult to keep teeth clean as they cannot be removed for eating – with tooth decay occurring in up to 50% of patients who wear fixed braces.  Invisalign allows patients to remove their aligners when they need to eat and clean, and as they are removable you are free to eat whatever you want.

Say cheese!

Using a series of aligners, treatment can last from 6 months to a year.  The process starts with your orthodontist taking dental impressions, X-rays and photographs which are sent off to Align Technology – who then creates simulated images of your teeth being repositioned during the Invisalign stages.  Upon you consenting to the treatment, a plastic resign aligner is manufactured for each stage of the computer simulation and sent to your orthodontist.

Your aligners are custom moulded to allow your teeth to gradually shift into a straighter position – changing sets approximately every two weeks until your perfect smile is achieved.  Not only are they discreet and comfortable, the aligners also give less force and aches if you were to wear metal braces for the whole straightening process.
