Articles 3D Teeth Scanning and Modelling with iTero

How can we help?

At Harley Street Dental Studio, we are committed to ensuring our patients have access to the latest dental innovations. Dentistry is evolving at a rate of knots, and we’re always on the lookout for incredible technology that can improve the way we work and bring new opportunities to our clients. ITero scanning is an advanced form of dental technology, which enables us to carry out 3D tooth scanning and modelling right here in the heart of London’s Harley Street.

About ITero

ITero scanners produce incredibly detailed, accurate images of the teeth. These intra-oral scanners have a number of important roles to play, most notably in the field of orthodontics. The images can be used to determine an accurate picture of the bite, and using a scanner eliminates the need for messy putty moulds. Many patients find the process of having moulds made uncomfortable, and the procedure is much cleaner and quicker with iTero. The images obtained by iTero are a lot more precise than creating impressions, and they enable dentists to get an idea of the potential benefits of treatment before the patient even starts a course of treatment, for example, Invisalign treatment. The scanning technology is the same as that used to map out Invisalign treatment, and it can be hugely beneficial for both patients and dentists to understand the difference specific treatments can make.

When used with Invisalign, 3D scanning can help patients to visualise the movement of the teeth, and this gives them an idea of what they can expect when their treatment is complete.
