DR. HUGHES: A smile makeover is basically the complete transformation of somebody’s smile. It is a four stage process. The first stage is the consultation and then we normally examine and look at the smile and take photographs of the patient’s teeth. Then we can produce a simulation like this to show the transformations that can be made. Then the next stage is to develop a prototype of the smile. This is what we call a wax up. We basically create a perfect smile on a model of the teeth before we start the treatment. Then there are two more steps, the preparation for the veneers and then the prototypes are placed in the mouth and then a week or so later we fit the veneers. So the whole process can be completed in about 2-3 weeks.
