6 Month Smiles
at Harley Street Dental Studio London W1

6 Month Smile treatments use state-of-the-art technology and methods to help move teeth quickly and comfortably. The treatment involves using nickel titanium wires, which are coloured like natural teeth, to help move the teeth that are usually on show when somebody smiles. This means that treatment is effective and efficient, usually taking only six months to see results.

Benefits of 6 month smiles

  • Quick
    • Treatment time usually takes around six months, hence the name. This is significantly less than conventional treatment using metal braces.
  • Comfortable
    • 6 Month Smile braces use lower pressure than conventional metal braces, and on fewer teeth. This means that the treatment experience is significantly more comfortable.
  • More discreet
    • The braces and wires used for 6 Month Smile treatment are made to look the same colour as natural teeth. This means that they are far more discreet than having a mouth full of shiny metal!

Is 6 Month Smile treatment for everyone?

People of all ages can use 6 Month Smile braces, but it's not an ideal treatment for everyone. 6 Month Smile treatment focuses on minor issues with the teeth and only works for the teeth that show when you smile. The suitability of the treatment for you can be discussed during a consultation at Harley Street Dental Studio.

How can I begin my 6 Month Smile treatment?

Firstly, contact Harley Street Dental Studio for a consultation to discuss your 6 Month Smile options. From there, we will be able to determine the results you are looking for and a complete treatment plan.

Does 6 Month Smile treatment really only take six months?

Usually yes. This is because it addresses only minor issues with teeth, and only on the front teeth that show when you smile. So, treatment only takes around six months to complete.

How noticeable are the braces?

6 Month Smile treatment uses tooth-coloured wires and brace brackets. This means that they are a lot more discreet than conventional metal braces.

Are there any side effects?

As you get used to your braces, during the initial days of treatment, your speech may well be affected. Over a short period this issue will disappear.

Does 6 Month Smile treatment hurt?

There might be some slight discomfort when you start, as you get used to the fit of your braces. The 6 Month Smile braces use very low pressure to move teeth, thus making treatment more comfortable.

Will I need to wear a retainer?

Yes. All orthodontic treatments require the use of a retainer after the initial treatment period. This will ensure a reduction of the risk of a relapse.

Will I be suitable for 6 Month Smile treatment?

6 Month Smile treatment can be used to address a number of issues, which include:

  • Gapped Teeth
    • If noticeable spaces appear between your teeth
  • Crowded Teeth
    • If your teeth overlap one another or have grown too close together
  • Underbites
    • If your lower jaw and teeth sticks out further than your upper jaw
  • Overbites
    • If your upper jaw and teeth sticks out further than your lower jaw
  • Crossbites

Stages of Treatment with the 6 Month Smiles

  • Stage One
    • First of all, you will need to visit us at Harley Street Dental Studio for an initial consultation. This appointment will help us to determine whether or not Six Month Smiles braces are the right treatment for you, or if more comprehensive orthodontic treatment would be more suitable.
  • Stage Two
    • If you are a suitable candidate and decide to go ahead with Six Month Smiles, you will be required to come back so we can create impressions of your teeth. These will then be sent off to the lab so that your brace can be created using the innovative Six Month Smiles patient tray kit. This patient tray kit makes sure that the brackets are positioned accurately so they can be bonded to your teeth before the wires can be fixed into place.
  • Stage Three
    • You will need to come back to Harley Street about once a month during your treatment. This is so we can make necessary minor adjustments to your brace as your teeth start to move into their new positions.
  • Stage Four
    • When the treatment is complete and the brace has been removed, you will be asked to wear a retainer to make sure that the teeth stay in their new positions. This step is essential to all orthodontic treatments.
