Articles What is Tooth Wear Rehab

How can we help?

We all experience a degree of tooth wear as we age, but there are factors that can accelerate wear and tear. If your teeth are in need of some TLC, we can restore and protect them using tooth wear rehab techniques. Whether your teeth are showing signs of damage caused by bruxism or acid erosion, we can help.

What causes tooth wear?

General day-to-day life can take its toll on the teeth and most people will experience a small extent of tooth wear over time. However, there are other factors that can increase the severity of tooth wear and accelerate the process. The most common causes of tooth wear include abrasion, which is most commonly associated with brushing too hard, acid erosion and bruxism (tooth grinding).

In some cases, the teeth may start to look short and misshapen and this can make you feel less attractive. Damage can also contribute to aches and pains in the jaw joint and heightened sensitivity. Tooth wear rehab is a way of improving the look of the smile and making you feel more confident.

How can we help?

Our aim is to prevent dental problems and we are on hand to provide advice to help patients steer clear of dental damage. We offer preventative advice to help to reduce the risk of acid erosion and abrasion and we can also help out with tackling issues contributing to bruxism, as well as providing solutions such as a bite guard to help those who grind their teeth on a regular basis.

In cases where significant wear is already visible, we are able to use a range of cosmetic techniques to improve the appearance of the teeth and the overall smile. Our treatment options include aesthetic bonding, veneers and porcelain crowns.
