Articles Replacing Missing Teeth in London Using Dental Implants

How can we help?

When a person in London loses a tooth there are numerous conditions that can arise if the gap is left unfilled. These problems include tooth drift, gum disease, difficulties eating and speaking and bone degeneration. It is therefore imperative for patients in London to fill any missing tooth gaps to main the function and aesthetics of their smile.

Dental implants-the best option for tooth replacement?

In the past loose dentures were the main treatment choice for people with missing teeth, especially those who had suffered from complete tooth loss and required full restoration. However, dental techniques and technology have advanced massively in the last few years and today not only the missing tooth can be replaced but the missing tooth root with the use of dental implants.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are titanium posts that are fixed into your jawbone and then left to fuse. Once the posts have become integrated into the jawbone a new tooth or several teeth can be added. Dental implants are one of the most long-lasting and natural looking and feeling ways to replace missing teeth and can be used in the vast number of cases.

Dental implants for one missing tooth

When one tooth is missing an implant will be applied into the gap and left to heal. Once the implant has completely integrated a crown will be attached, which will be the replacement for your missing tooth.

Dental implants for several missing teeth

For those who have lost several or all of their teeth dental implants can be used to secure a dental prosthetic such as a denture or bridge. First implants are placed in strategic positions in the mouth, which are then left to heal. The number of implants can differ depending on the patients, but is usually between 4-10. Once the implants have fused with the jawbone your replacement teeth will be fitted into place. Dentures and bridges stabilised using dental implants remain firmly within the mouth, without the usual painful rubbing and bone degeneration that occurs with loose prosthetics.
