Articles Four Tips to Keep Your Whitened Teeth Bright

How can we help?

If you’ve got a brand new, white smile, you want to keep it glistening and glimmering for as long as possible. If you’ve had your teeth whitened, here are four tips to help you keep your smile looking radiant:

  1. Brush your teeth: when you brush, you’re not just removing plaque and harmful bacteria. You’re also polishing your teeth, and giving them that extra bit of sparkle. Every morning and evening, take 2 minutes to brush your teeth, taking care to cover every tooth. If you don’t have a brush with a timer, use your phone to make sure you’re brushing for long enough. When you’re brushing, don’t be too firm, as this can damage your enamel and increase the risk of cavities and sensitivity.
  2. Avoid tooth-staining foods and drinks: there are certain foods and drinks that contain staining agents. If you’re eager to keep your smile in tip-top condition, it’s best to avoid these items. Drinks like wine, coffee and cola and foods including dark berries and soy sauce can all contribute to discolouration.
  3. Use a straw when you drink: if you are drinking, it’s best to use a straw to prevent staining. This will also help to minimise sensitivity, especially if you have ordered an ice-cold beverage.
  4. Book a dental appointment: if you haven’t been to the dentist in the last 6 months, pick up the phone and schedule a check-up. Your dentist can check our teeth and gums and give your teeth a good clean to keep your smile shining.
